Rosaccreditation and Accreditation Center of the Council of the Arab States of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Sign Memorandum of Understanding
June 7, in Kyoto (Japan), in the framework of the annual joint meeting of the Asia-Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Organization (APLAC) and the Pacific Accreditation Organization (PAC), the Head of the Federal Accreditation Service, Alex Khersontsev, and the Director-General of the Accreditation Center of the Arab Cooperation Council of Persian States Bay (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) Ahmed Almutayri signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the accreditation bodies.
The signing of the Memorandum is intended to lay a solid foundation for the implementation of Rosaccreditation projects aimed at supporting Russian exporters when entering the promising markets of the Persian Gulf countries.
The annual import of products to the Gulf countries is estimated at $ 180 billion. And the presence of a recognized certificate of compliance with Halal standards becomes a prerequisite for imports to these countries.
The Accreditation Center of the Gulf Cooperation Council, established in 2013 by a decision of the governments of the six member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Republic of Yemen, provides accreditation services in seven members in the areas of calibration, measurement, testing, inspection and certification, including Halal products, and is one of 20 full members of the International Halal Accreditation Forum (IHAF).
The memorandum regulates the relationship between the Rosaccreditation and the Accreditation Center of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf on accreditation. According to the Memorandum, Rosaccreditation and the accreditation body of the Arab States of the Persian Gulf will be able to exchange information and analytical materials on accreditation and study of best practices, to carry out joint training programs for personnel and the exchange of specialists. The document also provides for the possibility of the participation of the conformity assessment bodies of the parties in the proficiency testing programs organized on the territory of the parties.
