The committee organized a charity iftar in honor of World Halal Day

18 April 2022

On April 17, 2022, in the «Tynychlyk» Mosque, Kazan, the Committee for Halal Standard of Central Religious Organization The Muslim Religious Board of the Republic of Tatarstan held a charity iftar in honor of the international feast «World Halal Day».

Since 2013, World Halal Day has been celebrated every year in the Muslim world on the 17th day of the month of Ramadan (according to the Muslim calendar).

The initiator of the good tradition is the World Halal Council (WHC). The Committee has supported this initiative for many years.

Sunday’s event began with a welcoming speech by the Chairman of the Committee for Halal Standard, Abbyas Shlyaposhnikov. In his speech, the chairman quoted the first Qur’anic mention of Halal:

«So consume what you have taken of war booty [as being] lawful and good, and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful» (Al-Anfal, 69).

This ayat was revealed on the 17th of Ramadan in the second year of the Hijri (16 March 624), when the Battle of Badr was won.

«Today, the 17th of Ramadan, is a great occasion to recall the sending down of an instructive ayat and try to get closer to Allah and become even closer to His mercy,» Abbyas Shlyaposhnikov said.

Also during the iftar, the chairman gave a letter of thanks for his contribution to the development of the halal industry in Russia to Airat Ziganshin, co-founder of the Sultan sushi bar. Traditionally, a collective dua was held at the end of the evening.
