Singapore Opens Doors for DUM RT Halal Committee: New Opportunities for ASEAN Export
September 25, 2025
At the invitation of the Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS), Abbas Hazrat Shlyaposhnikov, Chairman of the Halal Standards Committee of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Republic of Tatarstan (DUM RT), visited Singapore on September 24–25, 2025.
On September 24, the visit included the opening of the international Halal Seminar, participation in the panel discussion “The Future of Halal Governance: Unity Through Collaboration,” and a tour of production facilities.
On September 25, working meetings were held with MUIS leadership and the Russian Ambassador to Singapore, Sergey Pavlovich Ganzha.
Abbas Hazrat emphasized that Singapore is a key logistics hub, enabling efficient supply of products to neighboring Southeast Asian countries, including Malaysia and Indonesia.
Why is MUIS Important?
MUIS is the central authority overseeing Muslim life in Singapore, managing mosques, halal standards, and educational programs. Their “MUIS Halal” certification is recognized in over 100 countries. For Russian halal producers, this opens access to Singapore’s market (GDP over $500 billion) and the ASEAN region, with an annual halal market volume of $200 billion.
What Does This Mean for the Committee?
The meeting marked a significant step toward mutual recognition of standards. Certificates issued by the DUM RT Halal Committee now facilitate exports of halal products (meat, cosmetics, grains) to Singapore without additional checks. Imagine Russian products on the shelves of Singapore’s malls!
